Biography
In Susan Sparks’ general civil litigation practice, she primarily represents clients in the construction and real estate industries, including developers, general contractors, property owners, landlords, tenants, and suppliers. She counsels clients on business matters and risk management and serves as the primary handling attorney on complex cases involving construction and design defects associated with new development, infill, and remodels, as well as landlord tenant, contracts, torts, and subrogation. She also represents various individuals and business owners in professional malpractice and business law matters.
Known as a tactical decision-maker and a successful negotiator with a proven ability to analyze complex legal matters quickly, Susan is trusted by clients to strategically identify, evaluate, and handle all types of claims and a variety of other business needs. Her vast experience allows her to facilitate cost-effective resolutions while discerning the need to aggressively pursue or defend litigated matters when appropriate in order to best serve her clients’ business interests. Susan does not employ a standard or routine approach; she thoroughly invests in researching and evaluating each particular client matter and creating a customized and strategic plan in order to garner optimal results.
Outside of her practice, Susan dedicates significant time to serving her family and giving back through a variety of community service projects and initiatives. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Kum Ba Yah Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides daily school lunches to over 750 students in Haiti. Susan was a founding board member and is currently a Sustainer Patroness of National Charity League, Inc.’s Temecula Valley Chapter. In addition, Susan participates in Mission trips to City of Children in Ensenada, assists with teaching in the Children’s Ministry at her local church and actively participates in Youth Group activities with her family. She previously served as a Girl Scout leader for ten years.
While in law school, Susan served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable William Byrne, United States District Court. She earned her Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude from Pepperdine School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree summa cum laude from Abilene Christian University. She is the recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Research and Writing.
